*Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor in Insect Functional Genomics *

The Department of Entomology at the University of Arizona is recruiting a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Insect Functional Genomics. The successful candidate is expected to develop a robust research program that uses an experimental approach and leverages the rapidly increasing number of sequenced insect genomes to address important questions in areas such as medical entomology, insect physiology and development, plant-insect interactions, insect metagenomics, or related fields. This position is in addition to a cluster hire of five faculty at the University of Arizona in Ecosystem Genomics (http://egi.arizona.edu/).
The University of Arizona promotes interdisciplinary research and the candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty interested in all aspects of genomics and insect biology, including faculty from the Center for Insect Science, the BIO5 institute, the USDA Carl Hayden Bee Lab, as well as the Department of Entomology and other units. Exceptional opportunities exist for recruiting postdoctoral fellows through the Postdoctoral Excellence in Research and Training (PERT) program (
http://cis.arl.arizona.edu/Pert/) and graduate students through the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Entomology and Insect Science (GIDP-EIS; http://insects.arizona.edu/).

The successful candidate is expected to participate actively in the GIDP-EIS; to develop and teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels; and to mentor students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds. The successful candidate will also participate in outreach; contribute to department, college, and university service; and will develop innovative approaches for enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding collaborations with community partners.

*Qualifications *

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Entomology or a closely related discipline is required and postdoctoral experience is desirable.
Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships; high potential to obtain extramural funding; and a strong publication record commensurate with rank.
Candidates must support the mission of the land-grant university system.
